Why is Research Important?
Yesterday we identified key milestones that happened in the history of Tallahassee. But how do we have that information and who collected it? Well with researchers of course!
Research is like being a detective—you're looking for clues, gathering information, and solving mysteries about the world around you. It's an essential skill that helps us understand history, science, the environment, and even ourselves.
But what does research have to do with milestones? Well, every milestone in history, whether big or small, is the result of someone researching, asking questions, and seeking answers. The art of research is all about discovering the key pieces of information that help us understand and celebrate those important moments.
Think about it: when we learn about milestones like the invention of the telephone or the Civil Rights Movement, we don't just get those facts from one person or one book. Researchers—whether scientists, historians, or even students like you—go on a journey to find, study, and understand all the details about those milestones.
Research is the key that unlocks the story of how milestones happen and why they matter. It helps us understand the past, shape the present, and build the future. By practicing the art of research, you're not just learning facts—you're connecting the dots, understanding the bigger picture, and becoming a part of the ongoing journey of discovery.
